DURING A TYPICAL CLASS YOU WILL:

Our instructors have drone pilot experience in industries like real estate, construction and public safety and go through a rigorous interview process, background check and onboarding program. They will provide all the equipment you need for training.

Class Duration — 90 minutes to 2.5 hours
Over the last 4 years, we’ve helped more than 15,000 drone pilots break into the drone industry, from individual operators to police and fire departments to enterprise organizations.
This class is for you if you are new to the drone industry and just getting into flying, have some drone experience but want to gain flight confidence and knowledge, or want to professionalize your operations with flight operations management and checklists.
In this 90-minute to 2.5 hour training class, get hands-on flight time with your instructor's DJI drone, practice intelligent flight modes and learn what to do before, during and after a flight mission to stay compliant and safe.

What kind of drone will I get to fly?
Our coaches train with DJI equipment — you’ll be flying either a DJI Mavic, DJI Phantom, or DJI Inspire model. If you have questions about the best professional drone models, we’re happy to help.
Can I bring my own drone?
Yes — many of our students prefer to fly with their own equipment. We’ll ask you to make sure that your firmware is up-to-date, to fully charge your transmitter, phone/tablet and to bring extra batteries. We’ll also ask that you’ve registered your drone through the FAADroneZone portal.
Do I need to be FAA Part 107 certified?
No — our instructors are certified and insured under our company policy, so you don’t have to be. If you’re interested in becoming a certified drone pilot, check out our FAA certification guide. We’d love to help you study!
What about inclement weather?
We won’t make you fly in the rain! We’ll work with you and your local flight instructor to reschedule.
Is this training class right for me?
Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and industries. If you’re looking to go deep into the DJI Go 4 app, explore intelligent flight modes and fail-safe settings and to really understand what to do before, during, and after your flight to not only fly safely but to comply with the regulations, then yes, we’d love to see you book time with us.

Andrew holds an FAA commercial pilot’s license for helicopters and airplanes, is a squadron commander of a 58 member unit in the Civil Air Patrol/USAF Auxiliary and was recently appointed to UAV Director of training, integration, and implementation for Civil Air Patrol’s Florida Wing. He also runs Birddog Drones, Inc., a drone services company, leveraging his work in real estate and construction. A former law enforcement officer, investigator and instructor, he attended the University of Florida and University of Miami, Florida. Andrew enjoys seeing students’ faces when they take the controls of a drone and experience a sense of freedom.

Cher is a professional photographer and filmmaker who runs Keva Creative, LLC, a video production and documentary film company, together with her husband. Her passion for aerial imagery spills over into drone education and advocacy. She developed the curriculum and teaches drone courses at the local community college, is a member of AUVSI and is an avid advocate for women in the drone industry. She currently flies a DJI Phantom 4 Pro and a Mavic Pro. Cher will be the “Guide at Your Side,” making your learning experience comfortable, fun and leave you eager to learn more!
Johnathon holds an FAA license for helicopters and private planes, was an Army infantry soldier and currently manages a team of drone pilots at a large chemicals company. He has flown every DJI aircraft and the Aeryon SkyRanger, Intel Falcon 8+ and Flyability Elios, has extensive knowledge of the DJI cameras and the Sony A7RII & A7RIII and is proficient with software including PIX4D, Bentley, FLIR Tools+ and Photoshop. He frequently completes UAV projects in inspections, 3D and 2D modeling, volumetrics, construction management, photography and cinematography. He wants to help you achieve your personal and professional goals.
Cape Coral, FL
Terry is a licensed airline pilot and CFI, holds an ATP certificate and an MBS in Aviation Safety, and served in the Army as a helicopter pilot and instructor. Owner of Aerial Perspectives, he works with clients like Fox News. He has over 2,000 flight hours on the DJI Phantom 3 Pro, Phantom 4 and 4 Pro, Mavic Pro, Inspire 1 & 2 and Matrice 600 and is familiar with the Yuneec 4K and H. Terry’s drone work includes cinematography production, editing, real estate, high rise building inspection, and mapping. He enjoys teaching and promoting safety to keep the drone industry going strong.
Grand Bay, AL
John has over 30 years of aviation, business and teaching experience, including 13 years in the Army, where he began as a flight instructor flying Hueys, Blackhawks, Beech Barons and King Airs. He also ran a crop dusting business and was a Part 135 operator flying to offshore oil rigs. After he got bitten by the drone bug, he started a drone photography company with a focus on structures and industrial operations and is experienced with the DJI Inspire 1, Phantom and Mavic. John is excited to provide sUAS flight instruction and to share his experience and insights.
Jonathan instructs Marines on how to fly commercial and military grade sUAS by working for the military as a civilian contractor. He is Level I & II certified in basic unmanned aircraft systems and has experience maintaining and repairing sUAS. He has several years of experience flying the DJI Phantom 4 Pro as well as military grade drones. When not out flying, he takes on the parental care and responsibility of his three crazy fur babies.
Glen is an Aeronautical Engineer that has been involved with aircraft from design to testing to build. He learned to fly UAVs on a Phantom 3 Standard and now flies a Phantom 4 and an Inspire 1. Glen runs AtmosphereView.com, providing aerial services including video post- processing. He enjoys teaching others what he has learned in the drone industry, in order to spread the knowledge and help advance drone technology.
Sneads Ferry, NC
Phil Work hails from Chicago and has been flying since the early 1970s. Now retired as both a Navy pilot and a FedEx commercial pilot, he still flies a Cessna Cardinal for business and pleasure and has logged over 11,500 hours total flight time. Phil became interested in drone flying and photography in 2017 and started Topsail Aerial Imaging, based in southeast North Carolina. He flies the DJI Phantom 4 Pro and joined UAV Coach to share his love of all things flying with others.
Pete brings together his passion for videography, photography and high tech by flying drones. A retired IT professional, he currently runs Great Heights Aerial Imaging LLC and has completed projects for real estate, roof inspection and aerial mapping. Pete flies a Mavic Pro, a Phantom 3 Advanced, and a Phantom 4 Pro and is proficient in DroneDeploy and Pix4D. He is also trained and certified for cell tower inspections. Weather permitting, his goal is to fly every day, and he looks forward to sharing his passion for drones with you.
Mike heads up Student Support for Drone Pilot Ground School. He served almost 28 years in the US Air Force where he held various management and leadership roles in human resources, supporting personnel around the globe. Mike is proficient in various DJI systems, Drone Deploy and a wide variety of other third-party apps. Mike was also a high school aerospace science instructor and used drones in the classroom with his JROTC students.
Sheri has an extensive career in and passion for technology. A drone enthusiast, she flies a variety of DJI models, including the Phantom 4 Pro, Mavic Pro, Mavic Air, and Tello. You can find her aerial pictures on Instagram under the account @her_sky_lens. Sheri has a track record in technology and training, with job roles that include Instructional Designer, Trainer, Software Quality Analyst and Business Analyst.
Eric served 20+ years in the U.S. Army and has worked nearly 30 years in the commercial sector in a variety of technical, consultant, and executive roles. A business development executive by day, Eric also runs Heartland Consulting, an aerial imagery services, consulting and training business. Since 2014, Eric has flown drone models including the DJI Mavic Pro, Phantom 3 and 4, Inspire 1 and 3DR Solo and is familiar with flight planning, management, and maintenance software including PrecisionMapper, DroneDeploy, AirMap, and DroneLogbook. Eric holds a BA from “The” Ohio State University and an MBA from the University of Tampa.
