Scaling a Police Drone Program for Faster Emergency Response

Goal: Prepare 12 new police drone pilots for Part 107 certification and hands-on deployment in support of a Drone as First Responder program.
How We Did It: Spent five days onsite delivering two days of Part 107 test prep for all 12 trainees, followed by three days of hands-on flight training in teams of four using the department’s DJI Matrice 30T, Matrice 4T, Mavic 3T, and Mavic 3 Thermal Advanced drones.
Results: The department doubled the size of its drone unit and launched a DFR program, giving officers real-time aerial intelligence soon after 911 calls and expanding drone support for public safety operations.

Training Construction Teams for Drone Mapping Operations

Goal: Build the team’s confidence and technical skills to safely operate their Wingtra drone for construction mapping and data collection.
How We Did It: Delivered three days of on-site, hands-on training covering basic flight skills, aircraft operation, mission planning, and mapping-specific workflows using the company’s Wingtra drone.
Results: The team gained the practical experience needed to plan and fly mapping missions safely, operate the Wingtra with confidence, and begin using aerial data to support construction projects.

Training Park Rangers for Real-World Drone Operations

Goal: Help park rangers safely use their DJI Mavic 3T for park monitoring, property oversight, situational awareness, and community-facing drone operations.
How We Did It: Delivered a single full day of customized onsite training, combining classroom discussion with hands-on flight practice using the rangers’ Mavic 3T and smaller training drones. Training covered drone rules, pilot interactions, visual observer scenarios, nighttime considerations, and core flight skills.
Results: The rangers left with stronger flight confidence, a clearer understanding of safe drone operations, and practical skills for using drones in real-world park and property monitoring scenarios.

About the training

Is there a minimum group size?

Yes. Most on-site training engagements require a minimum of 4 attendees.

Do you travel nationwide?

Yes, depending on instructor availability and training needs.

Do we need our own drones?

Not always. We can discuss options during the consultation process as we can help procure equipment if needed.

Can training be customized?

Yes. Training can be tailored to your equipment, industry, and operational goals.

Do you offer Part 107 training?

Yes. We can provide online Part 107 preparation for teams and organizations using our Drone Pilot Ground School curriculum. Our instructor is available to review concepts, answer questions and help with final exam preparations on-site.

Are you insured?

Yes. We hold an insurance policy that covers up to $1 million in liability during the course of your training class. If you bring your own drone to the training, while we would not insure any damage to the drone itself, our liability policy still covers you.

How do we pay for our team to take the training?

Can you process purchase orders?

We’re happy to accept POs and can complete any vendor paperwork necessary.

My organization is tax-exempt - how can we sign up?

If your organization is tax-exempt, please email a copy of your state-issued tax-exempt form to enroll@uavcoach.com, including the number of people you wish to enroll.
