This video from drone creators Dutch Drone Gods features some high octane FPV chase footage of the world’s fastest hydrogen powered race car, developed by TU Delft. The footage was shot on the Circuit Zandvoort in The Netherlands with a custom race drone using a stripped-down Blackmagic Pocket 4K camera. Since shooting this footage, TU Delft has picked up Shell as a sponsor.

Flying Motorbike Displayed at Recent Conference

Introducing our flying Motorcycle: THE SPEEDER

 

The Speeder Air Utility Vehicle (AUV) was first teased in the video shown above back in 2019. Now, over three years later, a prototype has been revealed. According to its maker, the Speeder is a VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) flying motorbike that uses eight jet engines. The finished product will be able to carry up to 1,000 pounds, travel 400 miles, and go up to 500 mph—read the article from DroneLife below to learn more about the prototype recently displayed at the annual Draper Venture Network CEO Summit.

Zipline Unveils New Acoustic Detect and Avoid Tech for Drones

Medical drone delivery company Zipline recently released a new acoustic Detect-And-Avoid (DAA) system that uses onboard microphones to give a drone full 360 degree awareness while flying. The new system lets the drone autonomously detect and fly around other aircraft in the airspace where it’s operating. According to Keenan Wyrobek, CTO and co-founder at Zipline, the new system is the result of “years of development and hundreds of thousands of flight hours.”

Next week the Energy Drones & Robotics Coalition will host its annual conference in Houston, Texas. The conference will be held over three days, from June 20-22, and feature industry leaders covering a range of topics related to how drones are supporting commercial work in Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and several other industries.
