Insta360 Announces New Drone Brand Antigravity
BY Zacc Dukowitz
29 July 2025Insta360 is getting into the drone game.
In a recent announcement, Insta360 shared that it will be launching a new drone spin-off called Antigravity.
From what we can tell, Antigravity is both a new spin-off of Insta360 and the name of the first drone it will put out, which will launch this month.
No surprise, the drone will be equipped with a 360° camera and will come with intuitive controls for both the drone and the camera, making it easy to fly and get great shots.
Everything We Know about Antigravity
Insta360 is a well-known name in the drone industry.
For years, we’ve known the company as the makers of high-quality 360° cameras for drones, like the Insta360 Sphere, which was used to shoot this video:

According to Insta360, the Antigravity drone will be an entirely new product category: 360 drones designed around immersive flight.
Built on the lessons learned from their action camera line, Insta360 is positioning Antigravity as an intuitive drone that will let pilots focus on creativity without worrying about framing or complex controls.
It’s been incredibly exciting to help bring this new category to life. Antigravity represents the best of what can happen when we help incubate bold ideas and co-engineer new tech. It’s a fresh take on drone design that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible.

Here’s what we know about Antigravity so far:
- 360° dual-lens capture. The drone will record immersive, full-environment footage, freeing pilots from needing to perfectly frame shots during flight. This allows creators to craft stories from every angle in post-production.
- Intuitive and accessible controls. Flight controls are designed for ease of use, supporting pilots ranging from beginners to experienced creators wanting efficient operation combined with powerful imaging.
- Smart safety technologies. Antigravity drones include payload detection to prevent unauthorized equipment changes and mitigate unsafe flying behaviors.
- User-driven development via Antigravity Hub. Antigravity invites pilots to actively participate in shaping features and future products through a community platform. Contributions that spark innovation may be rewarded, signaling a co-creative product evolution.
It’s unclear whether Insta360 will build the drone themselves or with a 3rd party—in an official statement, Insta360 shared that Antigravity was “incubated by Insta360 in collaboration with third parties.”
Can Antigravity Compete with DJI?
This isn’t just a product launch—it’s a signal that a serious new player is stepping up to challenge DJI.
Over the last decade, we’ve seen several companies fail to compete with DJI in the consumer drone space.
3DR’s Solo, GoPro’s Karma, and SnapChat’s Pixy all failed to gain a toehold in the consumer market. And more recently Skydio gave up on selling consumer drones, pivoting to focus exclusively on enterprise deals. (Parrot also seems to have quietly exited the consumer market, though it hasn’t made a formal announcement acknowledging this.)

One big thing Insta360 has going for it is that it has an established presence in the consumer drone industry, with a trusted brand and revenue streams tied to selling cameras to drone pilots.
Another big thing Insta360 has going for it is timing.
Right now, DJI is basically on pause in the U.S. You currently can’t seem to buy a new DJI drone anywhere, and it’s unclear when—or if—that’s going to change.
This means that Insta360 is entering the U.S. market at just the right time, filling the void left by DJI’s absence. And for those who start buying Antigravity drones while DJI is unavailable, they may stick with Antigravity even if DJI comes back.
It’s worth noting that Insta360 is a Chinese company. It’s based in Shenzhen, just like DJI. This means that any Chinese drone ban that may get passed could also apply to Antigravity, depending on where the company plans to manufacture its drones.
But for the moment, you can’t buy a DJI drone. And soon, you will be able to buy an Antigravity drone.
We’re looking forward to seeing how these new drones fly, and all the incredible shots pilots will get on them once they launch later this month.
