What happens when you fly a $10,000 FPV drone up the Matterhorn? You get pure cinematic gold. This year, drone pilot Noah Malin flew his Cinelifter FPV drone up the iconic mountain, shooting the ascent on a RED Komodo—a risky proposition when you’re flying where you can’t get your drone back. In the video, we see Malin expertly thread steep rock faces and snow-covered ridgelines until finally cresting the peak, capturing smooth, beautiful footage of the famous snowy mountain. Drone Helps Police Catch Wisconsin “Park Pooper”

Police in Stoughton, Wisconsin recently used a thermal drone to catch a person accused of repeatedly defecating in a public park. The story began when the Stoughton Police Department received dozens of complaints about used toilet paper and human waste being found along a local trail. Officers started their investigation by reviewing trail camera footage, finding that the suspect was following a pattern of showing up at the park in the early morning. Then they used the drone to catch her in the act, coordinating a response on the ground that led to her arrest.

2026 SkyPixel Contest Offers $200K in Prizes

SkyPixel—the annual drone photo/video contest put on by DJI’s social media arm—is offering $200,000 in prizes this year, a big jump from the $170,000 offered last year. This year, the contest has a new handheld category, encouraging creators to use cameras from DJI’s Osmo line.
All handheld video and aerial photography must be shot on a DJI product to be considered. Aerial videos must have at least 30 seconds of DJI footage, with a five-minute time cap. Submissions are open now until March 10, 2026. Winners will be announced April 27.
