This One FAA Rule Changes the Way You Fly Drones

Ever heard of the FAA’s Part 107.23? It’s a catch-all requirement in the Part 107 rules that you can’t fly in a “careless or reckless manner.” It also prohibits you from dropping an object from your drone in a way that presents a hazard to others or their property. Put simply, it’s the FAA’s “don’t do dumb stuff” rule—and it’s a good one to be aware of. Watch this short video to learn everything you need to know.

Mysterious Drone Flights Continue Over U.S. Defense Installations

Last month we reported on mysterious drones flying over the Pentagon for 17 days, with authorities unable to stop them or identify who was flying them. Now we have news of more drone incursions. On November 18, several mysterious drone flights were witnessed over the U.S. Army’s Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. Despite the best efforts of local and federal agencies, including the New Jersey State Police—including the use of a police helicopter and an Army Black Hawk drone—the origin of the rogue drones remains unclear. Several other mysterious drone incursions also took place recently over three U.S. Air Force bases in the U.K., with authorities similarly unable to track down the origin of the drones.
