Is This the First Leaked Photo of the DJI Air 4?
BY Zacc Dukowitz
4 February 2025In a recent post, reliable leaker Jasper Ellens shared what might be the first leak ever for the DJI Air 4.
This might be the first #DJIAIR4 picture you’ll ever see. A crashed prototype shows it will have a similar top design with #three top sensors like the to be released #DJIMavic4. The arms are a bit thicker then the #air3s so the finished product hopefully looks better. Cheers! pic.twitter.com/usF5yjnQM6

An Air 4 Already?
If this really is an Air 4, then it’s a surprise to many of us who report on the drone industry.
We recently wrote a list of the top 6 product launches we expected from DJI this year—and an Air 4 wasn’t on it. (Here are the drones that are on it: the Mavic 4 Pro, the Mini 5 Pro, and the Matrice 400A.)

The DJI Air 3S
And there’s a good reason the Air isn’t on that list. That’s because the Air 3S came out just four months ago, in October of last year.
For DJI to already be working on an update to the Air line seems pretty aggressive, even for them.
But based on our research and recent leaks, it does seem to be true that DJI is working on an Air 4.
What Do We Know about the Air 4?
The post above may be the first leaked photo ever of the Air 4, but it’s not the first leak.
Way back in May of last year, drone industry insider Igor Bogdanov who posts under @Quadro_News shared this:

Here’s everything we know so far about the Air 4:
Design and Build
The leaked prototype of the DJI Air 4 reveals design similarities with the upcoming Mavic 4 series.
Key design elements include:
- A familiar top cover housing two distinct sensors and an LED beacon for night operations.
- A redesigned front section with an updated LiDAR sensor array, potentially offering an expanded field of view.
- More robust arm construction compared to the Air 3S, suggesting improved stability and durability.
Camera System
The Air 4 is expected to feature an advanced camera setup:
- A circular triple camera module, similar to the Mavic 4 Pro.
- 2.5x and 6x camera options, as revealed in leaked footage.
- Vertical shooting functionality, mirroring recent DJI drone models.
Performance and Features
Anticipated performance improvements include:
- Enhanced obstacle avoidance capabilities, especially in low-light conditions.
- Improved flight stability due to the updated airframe design.
- Potential for 6K video recording.
- Built-in ND filter, replacing the clip-on filters of previous models.
So When Is It Coming Out?
The DJI Air 4 drone is expected to be released towards the end of 2025 at the earliest.
