Yesterday at the IFA Trade Show in Berlin DJI released the Mavic Platinum Pro, which is the same as the Mavic Pro  but with two big improvements—the new version flies much more quietly, and for longer.

The Mavic Platinum Pro is 60% quieter than the Mavic Pro, and it has 11% more battery life than the Mavic Pro, which bumps its average flight time up from 27 minutes to 30 minutes.

Mavic Platinum Pro Features and Specs

  • 30 Min flight time (up from 27—11% more battery life than the Pro)
  • Noise reduction of 60%, as compared to the Mavic Pro
  • All-new transmission system with a 4.3mi (7km) *range
  • 5 vision sensors
  • 4K camera stabilized by a 3-axis mechanical gimbal

The Mavic Pro Platinum costs $1,099 ($100 more than the Mavic Pro) and is available for pre-order immediately from the DJI website.

It will begin shipping this month.

Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian

DJI also just rolled out the Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian.

This new matte-grey version of the Phantom 4 Pro is the same as other Phantom 4 Pros except for the color (of course!) and the fact that it has a magnesium shell with anti-fingerprint coating.

The camera gimbal on the new Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian has also gotten a bump up in quality, since it’s now made of magnesium as well and also covered in anti-fingerprint coating—just like the shell—as well as being electroplated.

The Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian costs $1,499 and is available for purchase right now

“Sphere” Update for the Spark

In addition to unveiling the Mavic Platinum Pro and the Obsidian Phantom 4 Pro, DJI recently revealed a new Sphere mode for its gesture-controlled selfie drone, the Spark.

The Sphere mode allows you to capture panoramic photos with a fisheye lens effect, and then share the images captured to social media sites. It will be available soon on the upcoming DJI Go 4 mobile app.

The Spark is pretty inexpensive at $499—you can shop for the Spark here.
