Looking for ways to pass your time in quarantine?
Then now might be a good time to take up FPV (First Person View) flying (or get even better at it, if you’re already into it!).
To help overcome the boredom of being stuck at home, DJI just launched a 2020 FPV sale, making its FPV gear available at discounted prices—you can scroll to the next section for more details on the sale.
And in case you want to hone your FPV chops but you’re on a tight budget, we’ve included our top three FPV flight simulators at the end of this post, ranging in price from $9.99 to free. You can skip ahead to that section here if you’d like.
A quick note on DJI’s sale: the sale only covers the company’s FPV gear, like FPV goggles and controllers. If you’re looking for an FPV drone, we recommend checking out our list of the top five FPV drones.

DJI FPV Goggles
$ Now $489—savings of $40 529
DJI’s FPV Goggles were made for flying FPV, either as an amateur hobbyist and as a more serious drone racing pilot. They feature HD digital image transmission with low latency, strong immersion, long-distance transmission, and strong anti-interference.
DJI FPV Remote Controller
$ Now $269—savings of $30 299
DJI FPV Remote Controller features 7ms ultra-low latency between the remote controller and the air unit and allows you to set the parameters of each component remotely. When used with DJI’s FPV Goggles and DJI’s FPV Air Unit no additional receivers are required in order to be able to fly.
DJI FPV Air Unit
$17 Now $159—savings of $20 9
DJI’s FPV Air Unit features 1080p/60fps video recording, ultra-low-latency high-definition digital image transmission, and eight frequency channels, which allow up to eight pilots to fly simultaneously.
Inexpensive FPV Flight Simulators
Want to get better at flying FPV without spending a lot of money? Here are our picks for the top three FPV simulators on the market, ranging in price from $9.99 to free.
The Drone Racing League (DRL) SIM 3.0
DRL’s SIM 3.0 is the latest iteration of DRL’s simulator for FPV drone racing and it’s our top pick on the market.
Why is DRL’s simulator our top pick? Because DRL conducted over 5,000 bench tests to create the simulator, creating over 260,000 drone combinations and 2,000 power combinations during these tests. All of that testing makes it one of the most realistic, high-quality simulators out there.
FPV Air 2
The FPV Air 2 simulator is impressively realistic for such a low price, coming with solid physics and a lot of different settings.
A really useful feature of the FPV Air 2 simulator is that it offers an “ultra-low” mode, which allows you to run on almost any PC or laptop, even if your computer typically runs slowly. This simulator is a great starter or mid-level amateur option.
HotProps FPV Flight Simulator
The HotProps drone simulator uses real physics data to create its simulated environment for learning how to fly an FPV racing drone.
While the HotProps simulator is a little clunky and suffers from some lag it is also free, which makes it a good option if you’re on a tight budget and just looking to dip your toes into the FPV waters.
