“The military market is about $18 billion, and the consumer market is now about $1 billion. And then we’re about to see the launch of the commercial market, which I think will be bigger than both of them combined.”
Chris Anderson, former Editor-in-Chief of Wired is the CEO of 3D Robotics, a company which makes advanced, capable, and easy-to-use drone systems for everyday exploration and business applications.
Once the FAA makes its rules about how UAVs can be used by businesses, Anderson explained at the 2014 Geekwire Summit in Seattle last month, the UAV market is going to see a massive expansion.
3D Robotics is definitely a company to keep your eyes on. Their Iris+ ($750) model is a serious machine, with built-in gimbal stabilization and some incredibly smart software.
