Aerial Videography in Danny MacAskill’s The Ridge

Quadcopters, or in this case, octocopters, are an action sports videographer’s best friend.

In this video, Danny MacAskill offers a brilliant display of trial cycling on Scotland’s Isle of Skye.

I reached out to the film’s drone pilot, Lec Park, to learn more about the shoot. While they budgeted two weeks, they were able to get all the footage they needed in just 11 days due to favorable weather conditions. Lec used a DJI S1000 Octocopter, with a DJI Zenmuse Gimbal and Panasonic GH4 camera. He also used Spectrum controllers & Iftron Downlink.

A beautifully shot film! This is what aerial videography is all about!

I look forward to seeing what both Danny and Lec come up with next.
